Floyd L. Bushue

Floyd Laverl Bushue, age 87, of Dieterich, Illinois passed away at 1:01 a.m. Friday, March 3, 2023 at Evergreen Nursing and Rehab Center in Effingham. 

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood, with a one-hour viewing prior to the service. Wyatt Schwengel will be officiating. Burial will be at St. Anne’s Cemetery in rural Edgewood. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood. Memorials may go to Shriner’s Hospital for Children or the donor’s choice. 

Floyd was born on February 17, 1936 in Effingham County, Illinois, the son of Glen and Louise (Bryant) Bushue. He married Barbara Jean McBride on December 9, 1961 in Houston, Missouri. Floyd served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. After his time in the service, Floyd worked many years in the oil fields both as a derrick hand and a driller, mostly for Decatur Drilling Co. Later, he worked as a carpenter for McManaway Construction from which he retired. He enjoyed wood working, driving his golf cart, and gardening to give his family, friends, and neighbors the opportunity to enjoy his produce.

He is survived by his sons, David Bushue (wife Lanie) of Dieterich and Dale Bushue (wife Julie) of Mason; daughters, Janet Jamison (husband Joe) of Effingham, Jackie Bushue of Effingham, and Donna Brackney of Dieterich; brothers, Gary Bushue (wife Connie) of Mason and Robert Bushue (wife Pat) of Mason; sisters, Delores Vogel (husband Bruce) of Farina and Mary Jane Blair of Mason; sister-in-law, Rita Bushue of Effingham; grandchildren, Jill Jamison, Travis Sipe (wife Angie), Amanda Myers (husband Doug), Christopher Sipe, Bridget Bohnhoff (husband Eric), Michelle Fatheree (husband Jimmy), Morgan Bushue, Austin Bushue (Lacey Roedl), Mikala Lindsay (husband Nick), and Mikenzi Bushue; great-grandchildren, Allison, Jackson, Hank, Lucas, Trystan, Declan, Damien, Quinton, Briley, Berkley, Chloe, Conner, Colin, Caroline, Blake, and one due in July. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Louise Bushue; beloved wife, Barbara Jean Bushue; brother, Leroy Bushue; grandson, Josh Jamison; and brother-in-law, Bruce Vogel.
