George A. Hopper

George Hopper, age 72, of St. Elmo, Illinois passed away at 6:18 p.m. Saturday, October 23, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.

Graveside service with military rites will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at Springhill Church in Beecher City, Illinois.  PeeWee Denton will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may go to the family or the Donor’s choice. 

 George was born September 29, 1949 in St. Elmo, Illinois to Johnnie Earl and Leola Norine (Tucker) Hopper.  He married Brenda K. Branham on September 30, 1967 in St. James, Illinois.  He was a member of the American Legion Post #420 in St. Elmo, Illinois and the St. Elmo Rod & Gun Club.  He enjoyed fishing, camping and telling stories to his grandchildren.  

George is survived by his wife, Brenda Hopper; one son, Jeff Hopper of St. Elmo, Illinois; one daughter, Pamela Reeder (husband Jason) of Altamont, Illinois; two brothers, Jim Hopper (wife Marie) of rural St. Elmo, Illinois and Jack Hopper of St. Elmo, Illinois; one sister, Carolyn Forbes of Harristown, Illinois; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren

George was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Leola Hopper; son, George Allen Hopper, Jr; daughter, Candace Mayes; one brother, Rick Hopper and one sister, Norma Alice Hopper.
