Grace was born on April 14, 1933 in Pelzer, Indiana, the daughter of Benjamin Harrison and Myrtle Marie (Webber) Boyer. She married Joe Raymond Montgomery on October 12, 1954 in Oakland City, Indiana. Grace served beside Joe as a pastor’s wife ministering to nine different churches. She loved to sing, teach Sunday School, work with the youth, was the founder of a public-school bible study and snack program, crocheted prayer shawls for people suffering with an illness, and hosted multiple events in their home. Grace pursued opportunities to share the love of Jesus (her Savior) with others. At the age of eight-seven, she wrote and published a book titled “87 Years of Grace and Peace” illustrating her adventurous walk with Jesus. Grace was an active member of the Newton Free Methodist Church. Outside of church, the joy of her life was spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Thompson (husband David) of Newton; sons, Michael Ray Montgomery (wife Joyce) of Greenwood, Indiana and Russell Lee Montgomery (wife Marika) of Emmett, Idaho; seven grandchildren, Elijah Montgomery, Hannah Musselwhite (husband Issac), Rebekah Robertson (husband Anthony), Caitlin Chapman (husband Josh), Jon Thompson (wife Sadie), Lily Michalko (husband Nick), Olivia Thompson; five great-grandchildren, Jack, Jonah, Norah, Opal Grace, and Dexter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 65 years, Joe Montgomery; 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
