Helen Ruth Jasper

Helen Ruth Jasper, age 89, of St. Peter, Illinois passed away at 3:11 a.m. Sunday, July 9, 2023 at HSHS St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church with a two-hour visitation prior to the service. Rev. Timothy Landskroener will be officiating. Memorials may go to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or School or the donor’s choice. 

Helen was born on December 2, 1933 in St. Peter, Illinois, the daughter of Arthur and Olga (Hollman) Borchelt.  She married William Jasper on April 18, 1954 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.  She loved gardening and tending to her flowers. She had a great sense of humor and loved to socialize with people. She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, and LWML.  She was a former caregiver at several boarding homes.

She is survived by sons, Steven Jasper of St. Peter and Brent Jasper of Burleson, TX; daughters, Christie (Steve) Wright of Neoga and Jill Marxman of Altamont; grandchildren, Lexie Wright, Travis Burich (wife Cathy), Tyler Burich (wife Hannah), Billy Jasper (wife Taylor), Abby Marxman, Andy Jasper, and Cole Marxman; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Olga Borchelt; husband, William Jasper; brother, Wayne Borchelt; sister, Floreine Schuttner.
