Joan Sowers, age 81, of Mason, Illinois passed away peacefully in her home on January 13, 2021.
There will be a private family funeral service. Sam Hester will be officiating. Memorials may go to the family or the donor’s choice.
Joan was born on January 15, 1939 to Pearl “Curly” and Mattie (Wilmeth) Leasher. She was the oldest of five children. She worked for several years at World Color Press and retired in 2003 from Lakeland Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. She loved gardening, painting, camping, and spending time with her family. Joan married her husband of 65 years, William “Bill” Sowers on April 23, 1955 in Toledo, Illinois. They had 5 children.
Joan is survived by her husband; son, Bruce Sowers (wife Brenda) of Farina, Illinois; daughters, Terry Dunn of Stewardson, Illinois and Candi Mintert (husband Tracy) of Effingham, Illinois; son-in-law, Dennis Dunn of Mason, Illinois; brothers, Carl Leasher (wife Francie) of Windsor, Illinois and Donald Leasher (wife Carrie) of Mason, Illinois; sister, Janie Bahrns (husband Rick) of Flora, Illinois; 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Judy Beatt; son, Rusty Sowers; infant son, William Sowers; grandson, Levi Sowers; granddaughter, Shanda Eyman; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Sowers; infant great-granddaughters, Serenity Dunn and Nevada Adams.
