Kathleen Frances Mahon

Kathleen Frances Mahon, age 70, of St. Peter, Illinois passed away at 8:28 p.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at Deaconess Women’s Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana.

There will be a private family funeral service. Pastor Ryan Meyer will be officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery in St. Peter, Illinois. Visitation will be open to the public from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 4, 2020 at Pagel Funeral Homes in St. Peter, Illinois. Memorials may go to Lupus Foundation of America, Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation, or the donor’s choice.

Kathleen was born on March 24, 1950 in Vandalia, Illinois, the daughter of Glenn and Betty (Neuendorf) Michel. She married David Mahon on June 12, 1966 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in St. Peter, Illinois. Kathleen worked as a Respiratory Therapist at St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia, Illinois for several years. She was a member of the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, David Mahon of St. Peter, Illinois; two sons, David Mahon Jr. of Boca Raton, Florida and Matthew Mahon (significant other Amber Huddlestun) of St. Peter, Illinois; daughter, Michele Helbig (husband Glenn) of Okawville, Illinois; three sisters, Joanne Stortzum of Watson, Illinois, Carolyn Stein of Salem, Illinois, Mary Atchison of Platte City, Missouri; three grandchildren, Alexis Helbig, Austin Helbig, Patience Nelson and one on the way, Amira Mahon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Betty Michel and brother, Steven Michel; in-laws, Harold and Edith Mahon.
