Larry W McWhorter

Larry W. McWhorter, age 73, of Dieterich, Illinois passed away at 5:20 p.m. Monday, January 17, 2022 at his home, surrounded by family.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 21, 2022 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood. There will be a one- hour viewing prior to the service. Corban Matney will be officiating. Burial will be at Loy Chapel Cemetery in Heartville. Memorials may go to the family, Enduring Freedom Ministries in Shumway, Journey Campton or the donor’s choice.

Larry was born on March 21, 1948 in Union Township, Illinois, the son of James and Thelma (Campton) McWhorter. He married Brenda on January 25, 1974 in Effingham, Illinois. He was a member of Bethsaida Church. He loved mushroom hunting, going to tractor pulls, his John Deere tractor 4020, and making memories with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda McWhorter of Dieterich; son, Joseph McWhorter of Dieterich; daughters, Donna Kramer of Montrose and Carol Hewkin (husband Doug) of Dieterich; brother, Leroy Campton (wife Carolyn) of Funkhouser; sisters, Lucille Tarpley of Flora, Leona Butts of Michigan, and Cleta Colclasure of Farina; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Thelma McWhorter; sons, Terry and Larry McWhorter; brothers, William, Jim, Lonnie, and Jerry McWhorter; sister, Eda Cook; grandchildren, Ashley McWhorter and Shantih Hewkin.
