Lois I Sporleder

Lois I. Sporleder, age 96, of Altamont, Illinois passed away at 3:15 a.m. Sunday, March 26, 2023 at Lutheran Care Center in Altamont.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 31, 2023 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Reverend Matthew Woods will be officiating. Lois was born on October 2, 1926 in Edgewood, Illinois, the daughter of Lester Ora and Zora Fern (Moreland) Towles. She married Glen J. Sporleder on July 28, 1945 in Farina. Lois was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ and Friedens UCC Women’s Guild. She loved flowers, gardening, collecting tea pots and old mason jars, and always cherished the time and memories made with her family and friends.

She is survived by her sons Gary Sporleder (wife Pat) of Altamont, David Sporleder (wife Mary) of Cape Coral, Florida, John Sporleder (wife Lora) of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, and Jim Sporleder (wife Karen) of St. Peter; sister, Peggy Eident of Effingham; 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 5 great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Zora Fern Towles; husband, Glen Sporleder; brothers, Darrell “Buster” Towles, Glen Towles, and Clifford Towles; and sister, Wyvonne Winter; 1 grandson, Brenton Connor; 1 great great-granddaughter, Makenna Bowen.
