Lucy Frances Gillespie

Lucy “Frances” Gillespie, age 76, formerly of Beecher City, Illinois passed away at 1:00 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Effingham Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Effingham, Illinois.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2019 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood, Illinois. There will be a one-hour viewing prior to the service. Jeff Loper will be officiating. Burial will be at Tipsword Cemetery in Beecher City, Illinois.  Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood, Illinois. Memorials may be made to Pagel Funeral Homes to help with funeral expenses or the donor’s choice. 

Frances was born on March 21, 1943 in Shelby County, Illinois, the daughter of Serno and Leona (Renfrow) Tipsword. She married Leroy Gillespie Sr. on March 31, 1958. She enjoyed doing puzzles, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her two sons, Leroy Gillespie Jr. (wife Mildred) of Altamont, Illinois and Frank Gillespie (wife Linda) of Dieterich, Illinois; three daughters, Lucy Conard (husband Roy) of Edgewood, Illinois, Beverly Munger (husband James) of Daleville, Alabama, and Leona Thomas (husband Louis) of Colorado; five sisters, Lavista Rickafeller of Arcola, Illinois, May McMillen of Altamont, Illinois, Ellanore Russell (husband Carl) of Pana, Illinois, Bessie Potter of St. Elmo, Illinois, and Linda Canada of Beecher City, Illinois; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Serno and Leona Tipsword; husband, Leroy Gillespie Sr.; three brothers, Samuel, Carl, and Jerry Tipsword; two sisters, Diane Gordon and Patricia Thompson; three grandchildren, Timothy Gillespie, Carrie Conard, and Timothy Cross; one great-grandchild, Corbin Sheffield.
