Marilyn K (Eakin) Magnus

Marilyn K. Magnus, age 80 of St. Peter, Illinois passed away at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Pagel Funeral Home in St. Peter, Illinois.  Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in St. Peter, Illinois.  Pastor Ryan Meyer will be officiating.  Burial will be at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery in St. Peter, Illinois.  Memorials may be made to St. Peter Lutheran School Tuition Assistance Fund, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Nativity Scene, St. Peter Area Cancer Support Group, or the donor’s choice. 

Marilyn was born on September 22, 1940 in Iuka, Illinois, the daughter of Lewis Edwin and Leona (Widdows) Eakin.  She married Floyd Magnus on February 24, 1962 in Pine Lawn, Missouri.  She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.  She was a former member of Fayette County Board.  She was a member of St. Peter Home Extension for 58 years.  She was a founding member of St. Peter Area Cancer Support Group. She was retired from St. Peter Insurance Agency. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.  As much as she loved to spread joy, she also collected “JOY” memorabilia.

She is survived by her daughter, Glori Magnus of St. Peter, Illinois; granddaughter, Jessica Burmeister of Flora, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Maddox, Parker, and Scarlett Burmeister of Flora, Illinois; and sister-in-law, Ruth Summann of Shobonier, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis Edwin and Leona Eakin; husband, Floyd Magnus; son, Kurt Magnus; and sister, Edna Morris.
