Michael Dale Loy

Michael Dale Loy, age 64, of Altamont, Illinois passed away Friday, December 28, 2018 at Carle Hospital in Champaign, Illinois.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Pagel Funeral Home, Edgewood, Illinois. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials may go to Pagel Funeral Homes or donor’s choice.  

Michael was born on April 8, 1954 in Effingham, Illinois, the son of Glen “Doc” and Alta (Pontious) Loy. Michael was a carpenter. He enjoyed squirrel hunting, wood cutting, fishing, country music and loved playing cards with his granddaughter.  He liked to socialize and have a good time. 

He is survived by two sons, Michael N. Loy of Effingham, Illinois and Scott W. Loy (wife Jessica) of Altamont, Illinois; two daughters, Jackie Gordon (husband Bill) of Altamont, Illinois and “Lora” SueAnn O’Dell (husband Tim) of Shumway, Illinois; his lifelong friend, Sharon Jewell; brothers Arvie Loy of Charleston, Illinois, Timothy Loy (partner Loren) of Lerna, Illinois; sisters, Cathy Loy (companion Bruce Jewel) of St. Elmo, Illinois, Carol Clapps (husband Vince) of Summerset, Florida, Linda Pippin of Kingmen, Arizona, Sandy Tipsword (husband Ron) of Summerset, Florida; brother-in-law, Dale Stuemke of Altamont Illinois; 14 grandchildren, Ashton, Shannon, Maegon, Corrina, Shelby, Kavin, Starlit, Shaelyn, Melinda, Dakota, Keidrah, Liam, Allie and Mckenzie; great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Kelliana, Kira Hensley and Deacon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen “Doc” and Alta Loy; 3 brothers, Glen E. Loy, Jr., Kent E. Loy and Kalvin Loy; 2 sisters, Bonita Davis and Margie Stuemke; one grandson, Devon Loy.
