Nancy Walker Obituary

Nancy Joan (Evans) Walker, age 81, of Watson, Illinois passed away at 7:34 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at her home in rural Watson, Illinois.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 5, 2021 at Watson United Methodist Church in Watson, Illinois with a one-hour viewing prior to the service. Jeff Morrison will be officiating. Burial will be at Watson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 4, 2021 at Watson United Methodist Church. Memorials may go to Watson United Methodist Church or the donor’s choice. 

Nancy was born on March 7, 1940 in Effingham, Illinois, the daughter of Allyn and Bernel (Siddens) Evans. She married Lee “Bill” William Walker on August 18, 1973 in Watson, Illinois. She retired from Unit #40 Schools where she was a cook and then head cook at many of the local schools. She was a member of the DAR, Sunshine Girls, and Watson United Methodist Church where she was known for her cherry pies. Nancy was a devoted mother and Granny and was happiest when surrounded by her family, especially during heated rounds of Texas Rummy. She spent many hours hand stitching quilts for each grandchild and even made extras for any future grandchildren. She loved her plants and mowing the grass on her John Deere.

Granny will be greatly missed by her children, Juanita Pagel of Watson, Illinois, A.Allyn Koester (wife Angie) of Effingham, Illinois, Patrick Koester (wife Julie) of Effingham, Illinois, Angela Vogt (husband Vernon) of Watson, Illinois, Charles Koester (wife Mia) of Tustin, California; step-children, Joyce Hoeffliger (husband Tom) of Effingham, Illinois, Jack Walker of Watson, Illinois; sister, Floann Field (husband Dan) of Mason, Illinois; grandchildren, Desiree Poe, Abbie Koester, Mackenzie Koester, Allyn Koester, Sara Janes (husband Brad), Andrew Koester (wife Rosemary), Lexie Vogt, Dustin Vogt (wife Molly), Callie Goodwin (husband Rex), Tatiana Koester, step-grandchildren, Michelle Ellehcim, Amy Lilly, Josh Walker, and Breann Will (husband Shawn); 10 great-grandchildren and 6 step great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Tom Walker of Watson, Illinois; sister-in-law, Sally Rush of Watson, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Allyn and Bernel Evans; husband, Bill Walker; son-in-law, Bob Pagel; 6 in-laws; and one step great-grandchild.
