Neal A. Koberlein

Neal Anthony Koberlein, age 76, of Brownstown, Illinois passed away at 4:25 p.m. Saturday, December 26, 2020 at Fayette County Hospital, Vandalia, Illinois. 

Graveside services will be Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bonaventure Cemetery in St. Elmo, Illinois with Father Joseph Havrilka officiating.

Neal was born on May 6, 1944 in Wheatland Township, St. Elmo, Illinois, the son of Lawrence A. Koberlein and Mary V. (Malloy) Koberlein.  He married Esther Buff on April 20, 1963 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Elmo, Illinois.  Neal was a lifelong farmer.  He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church was on the Brownstown School Board for twelve years and on the Vandalia Mutual Insurance Board.  He belonged to the Knights of Columbus and was a life member of the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by his wife, Esther Koberlein; sons, Tony Koberlein (wife Lisa) and Larry Koberlein (wife Mary) both of St. Elmo, Illinois; one brother, Ross Koberlein (wife Beverly) of Brownstown, Illinois; two sisters, Rochelle Suttory, (husband Lou) and Linda Lehnert (husband Bill) both of Springfield, Illinois; grandsons, Mathew Koberlein, Justin Koberlein and Luke Koberlein all of St Elmo, Illinois; granddaughter Andrea Koberlein of Effingham, Illinois; great-granddaughters, Matison and Kinley Koberlein of Effingham, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Mary Koberlein and two siblings in infancy.
