Orville Ray Hinton

Orville R. Hinton, age 95, of St. Elmo, Illinois passed away at 9:07 a.m. on Friday, November 22, 2019 at HSHS St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in St. Peter, Illinois with a one-hour viewing prior to the service. Pastor Ryan Meyer will be officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery in St. Peter, Illinois. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Memorials may go to Alzheimer’s Association, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, St. Peter’s Lutheran School, or the donor’s choice. 

Orville was born on September 27, 1924 in Mt. Auburn, Illinois, the son of Lowell and Edna Marie (Long) Hinton. He was a member of the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. He enjoyed farming and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Malinda Hinton of St. Elmo, Illinois; two sons, Randy Hinton (wife Nancy) of St. Peter, Illinois and Aaron Hinton (wife Gwen) of St. Elmo, Illinois; four daughters, Carol Mahon of Mason, Illinois, Marsha Paslay (husband Ralph) of Dow, Illinois, Vicky Hinton of Bethalto, Illinois, and Sandra Stuemke (husband Eugene) of Altamont, Illinois; 13 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Edna Hinton; one son, Ronnie Hinton; four brothers, Russell Hinton, Jim Hinton, Frank Hinton, Roy Hinton; and sister, Mabel Blurton.
