Richard Dale Cox

Richard “Dick” Dale Cox, age 86, of Mason, Illinois passed away at 4:48 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2021 at his home in Mason, Illinois, surrounded by his family.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, March 22, 2021 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood, Illinois. There will be a graveside service to follow at Edgewood Cemetery in Edgewood, Illinois. Mark White will be officiating. Memorials may go to Edgewood Cemetery, Crossroads Cancer Center, or donors’ choice.

Richard was born on March 20, 1934 in Fayette County, Illinois, the son of Ray and Dorothy (Ricketts) Cox. He was a member of the Edgewood Masonic Lodge. He loved gardening, meeting up with old friends to go dancing, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his son, Larry Cox (wife Elizabeth) of Vandalia, Illinois; daughters, Dixie Legg (husband Ed) of Effingham, Illinois and Pam Butts (husband Roger) of Edgewood, Illinois; brother, John Cox (wife Barb) of Edgewood, Illinois; sisters, Mary Doedtman of Effingham, Illinois and Janet Burgess of Altamont, Illinois; 10 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great great-grandchild.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray Cox, Dorothy Wilson, and Ermine Wilson; brothers, Gene Cox and Kenneth “Tom” Cox; sisters, Vera Roedl, Joan Cox; three grandchildren, Adam Butts, Heather Cox, and Brittany Ricketts.
