Vera Loleta Hutson, age 87, Cisne, Illinois, formerly of Mason, Illinois, passed away at 4:14 a.m. Thursday, November 16, 2023, at her son’s home surrounded by family.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 24, 2023, at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood, Illinois with a one-hour viewing prior to the service. Brenda Byers will be officiating. Interment will be at Mason Cemetery in Mason, Illinois. Memorials may go to Loleta’s family for final expenses or the donor’s choice.
Loleta was born on August 13, 1936, in Mason, Illinois, the daughter of Ralph and Emma (Ketchum) Ashton. She married Justice Joseph Hutson on June 12, 1954, in Riverton, Illinois. She was a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge, Effingham VFW, and Effingham American Legion Auxiliary. She loved all her family and many friends, her animals, dancing, and listening to country music.
She is survived by her son, Ernie Hutson (Lydia Spence) of Montrose; daughters, Mary Ashley (Rick) of Watson, Connie Hutson of Montrose, Kelly Baumgarten (Ed) of Stewardson; brothers, Larry Walker of Sullivan, Indiana, Carl Ashton (Esta) of Shelburn, Indiana, and Tom Ashton (Pam) of Linton, Indiana; special friend, Dave Dillon of Newton; 18 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and 16 great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Justice Hutson; brothers, Lewis Ashton and Bobby Walker; sister, Alma Brodie; and grandson, Will Parks, and special aunt, Ruby Young.
