Walter “Wally” Lee Bartels Jr., age 53, of Mason, Illinois passed away at 9:49 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2020 at Evergreen Nursing Home in Effingham, Illinois.

There will be a private family graveside service at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2020 at Wright’s Cemetery in Mason, Illinois. Mark White will be officiating. Memorials may go to Mason Christian Church, National MS Society, or the donor’s choice.

Wally was born on May 21, 1967, the son of Walter Lee Sr. and Judith Kay (Teets) Bartels. He was a member of the Edgewood American Legion post#1168. Walter served in the United States National Guard. He was a truck driver for MIC Concrete for several years. He enjoyed deer hunting, mushroom hunting, four-wheeler riding, and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his parents, Walter L. Sr. and Judith Bartels of Mason, Illinois; brothers, Scott Bartels (wife Mary) of Mason, Illinois and Mark Bartels of Mason, Illinois; sisters, Sheila Wilson (husband Jeffrey) of Mason, Illinois and Barbara Smith (husband Stewart) of Louisville, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
