Wayne Otto Bergmann

Wayne Otto Bergmann, age 69, of Vandalia, Illinois passed away at 6:50 p.m. Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Vandalia Rehab and Health Care Center.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 9, 2021 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in St. Peter, Illinois with a one-hour viewing prior to the service. Reverend David Speers will be officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may go to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or the donor’s choice.

Wayne was born on July 6, 1952 in Vandalia, Illinois, the son of Otto John Fred and Edna Anna Maria (Oertwig) Bergmann. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Wayne was known for collecting, crushing, and recycling cans. He loved listening to old western and gospel music.

He is survived by his niece, Sara Teed (husband Nathan) of Iowa; great-nieces and nephews, Marcus, Brayden, and Ella Teed; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Edna Bergmann; sister, Janice Inman; brother-in-law, James Inman.
