Abie William Whipple age 79, of LaClede, Illinois passed away at 3:55 p.m.
Saturday, November 21, 2015 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham,
Illinois.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at the Pagel
Funeral Home in Edgewood, Illinois with one hour viewing prior to service. Judy
Poe will be officiating. Burial will be at the Keen’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation
will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday, November 23, 2015 at Pagel Funeral Home in
Edgewood. Memorials may be made to Keen’s Chapel Cemetery or donor’s
choice.
Abie was born on March 24, 1936 in Louisville, Illinois, the son of John and Grace
(Cardin) Whipple. He married Laura Etta Hutton on May 1, 1959 at Mt. Carmel,
Illinois.
Abie loved playing horseshoes, going to the boat and spending time with his
family.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Wipple of LaClede, Illinois; four sons, Abie
Whipple Jr. (wife Vicki), Terry Whipple (wife Amy), Bobby Whipple (wife Patsy)
and Alfred Whipple (wife Melissa) all of LaClede, Illinois; daughters, Brenda
Whipple (husband George) of LaClede, Illinois, Ellie Oaks (husband Randy) of
LaClede, Illinois, Wanda Newell (husband Adam) of Bloomfield, Missouri, Mary
Lou VanMeter (husband George) of Watson, Illinois, Angel Whipple of LaClede,
Illinois, Lulabelle Reid (husband Paul) of LaClede, Illinois, Una Newell (husband
Joeye) of LaClede, Illinois and Linda Oaks (husband John) of Terra Haute,
Indiana; 24 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Abie was preceded in death by his parents, John and Grace Whipple; Son, Lonnie
Whipple; two brothers, Mallie and Vallie Whipple; five sisters, Edna Collins,
Wanda Moore, Daisy Colcott, Lulabelle Collins, Kate Batchlar and one son-n-law,
John Thomas.
