Gary R. Weidner, age 71 formerly of Iola, Illinois passed away at 2:00 a.m. Monday, April 03, 2017 at Heartland Health Care Center Decatur in Decatur, Illinois.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 08, 2017 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood, Illinois. Brent Bailey will be officiating. There will be a two-hour visitation prior to the service. Burial will be at Iola Cemetery in Iola, Illinois.  Memorials may go to Make A Wish Foundation, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Shriner’s Hospital or donor’s choice. 

Gary was born on January 04, 1946 in Springfield, Illinois, the son of Gilbert R. and Ruby M. (Fitzgerald) Weidner. He was a member of the Decatur Masonic Temple, Ansar Shriner and Edgewood American Legion Post # 17. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by his two daughters, Ramona Woodard (husband Charles) of Decatur, Illinois and Dawn Michelle Weidner of Lehigh Acres, Florida; five grandchildren, Jaron Mathews, Jace Mathews, Jakeb Ault, Mikayla Bradford, Jamal Edmonds and four great-grandchildren, Trevor Woods, Jamie Mathews, Madelyn Mathews and Rhylan Mathews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert “Ray” and Ruby Weidner; two brothers, Stanley Weidner and Herbert Colman.
