Ilene Lee Etchason, age 88, formerly of Edgewood, Illinois passed away at 2:01 p.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Friendship Manor Nursing Center in Nashville, Illinois.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 18, 2016 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood, Illinois. David Hyde will be officiating. There will be a one-hour viewing prior to the service. Burial will be at Edgewood Cemetery in Edgewood, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Edgewood Cemetery or donor’s choice.

Ilene was born on April 03, 1927 in LaClede, Illinois, the daughter of Clyde and Edith Martha (Sprouse) Hildibrand. She married James Nathan Etchason on June 02, 1946 in Edgewood, Illinois. He preceded her in death on Friday, February 16, 2007. She was a member of the Edgewood order of the Eastern Star, Keeler-Adams post 1168 of Edgewood, American Legion Auxiliary and the VFW post 1769 of Effingham and Valley of Danville. She enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Clyde Etchason of Mattoon, Illinois; two daughters, Beverly Joyce Peterson of Robinson, Illinois and Barbara Etchason of Champaign, Illinois; sister, Bernadine Sabens of Effingham, Illinois; 3 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Edith Hildebrand; son, James Russell in infancy; son-in-law, Wayne Peterson and brother-in-law James Richard Sabens.
