Marion Jean Butts, age 89, of Odin, Illinois passed away at 6:30 p. m. Friday, December 16, 2016 at SSM Health Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 07, 2017 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Shobonier, Illinois. Pastor Hoehler will be officiating. There will be a one-hour viewing prior to the service. Memorials may go to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, American Cancer Society or donor’s choice. There will be a private graveside service at a later date. 

Marion was born on June 9, 1927 in Marion County, Illinois to Theodor and Elna (Drewes) Moeller. She married Harold Benjamin Butts on December 1, 1946 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in rural St. Peter. She was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, St. Paul’s ladies aid and the Patoka American Legion post# 543. Marion worked for Southwestern Bell in St. Louis, Missouri for over 30 years.

Marion is survived by her two daughters, Esther VanBuskirk (husband Gary) of Odin, Illinois, Christine Prager (husband Frank) of Dorsey, Illinois; one brother, Eugene Moeller (wife Betty) of Altamont, Illinois; 2 grandchildren, Paul and Jimmy Prager.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodor and Elna Moeller; her husband, Harold B. Butts; 2 brothers, Floyd and Theodor Moeller; four sisters, Vera Moeller, Bernice Sachan, Evelyn Hencke and Judith English.
