Delbert L. “Skeeb” Blurton, age 86, of Brownstown, Illinois passed away at 1:55 a.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Lakeland Rehabilitation & Health Center in Effingham, Illinois

Funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 01, 2016 at Trinity United Methodist Church in rural St. Elmo, Illinois. Pee Wee Denton will be officiating. There will be a one-hour viewing prior to the service. Burial will be at Post Oak Cemetery in rural St. Elmo, Illinois. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 30, 2016 at C&A Pagel Funeral Home in St. Elmo, Illinois. Memorials may go to Loudon City “Post Oak” Cemetery (1832 E. 2475 Ave. Brownstown, IL 62418) or donor’s choice.

Delbert was born on July 13, 1930 in Carson Township, Illinois, the son of Jack and Mary (Tish) Blurton. He married Carolyn Holman on February 14, 1965 at Greenland Baptist Church in rural Beecher City, Illinois. He was a member of the Greenland Baptist Church in Beecher City, VFW of Brownstown Post #9770, Loudon Township Cemetery board, and a lifetime member of the NRA. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, trap shooting and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his two sons, Rusty Blurton (wife Debbie) of Greenville, Illinois and Jack Blurton of Altamont, Illinois; daughter, Pam Doty (husband Wilson) of Brownstown, Illinois; four sisters, Louis Elliott of Danville, Illinois, Lola Jean Blurton of Killeen, Texas, Mary “Kap” Monk of Orient, Illinois and Erma Dananay of Orient, Illinois; 8 grandchildren, Ethan Doty, Jack Blurton, Breanna Sasse, Broc Young, Christian Earth, Lylah Blurton, Kiah Saunders and Libby Heisser and 4 great-grandchildren, Rylee, Kinlee and Natalee Sasse and Tagan Young.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Mary Blurton; wife, Carolyn Blurton; brother, Richard Blurton in infancy; grandchild, Liam Blurton in infancy; two brothers-in-law, Clifford Elliott and Fred Dananay.
