I am so very sorry to hear of Cap's passing. A pillar of the St. Elmo community for sure. Thoughts and prayers for all.

I met Cap years ago as we were friends through our mutual interest in politics. He served his fellow citizens in public service for years, something for which I admired him so much. When I was the president of the Vandalia Chamber of Commerce in 1974, I initiated the Abe award to honor those who had contributed their time and talents to the betterment of our area.. Vandalia and Fayette County. Cap was one of the first recipients of the award. I'm sure that Cap will be missed by all who had the privilege to know him, his many friends and, of course, his family. Simply put, he was a good man!

Our family was so richly blessed to have you in it. I will always remember talking with you about our family's rich history, and will cherish all that you shared with me... but most of all, I will cherish the time you made for me on those occasions. You are loved, remembered and missed.

Prayers at this time. Cap was an active and respectable citizen. A great example to many. My Dad, Murl E. Williams spoke of him often up to within a few months of his passing on 9/30/2015.

What an honor to live to be 100. I enjoyed visiting with Cap when I went to see Mom at Aperon Care. I am not sure he figured out who I was but when I said the name Haslett he perked right up. Even though your parents live a long life, it is still an adjustment when they are gone. Prayers.
